Nestled in the countryside
on 50 acres in beautiful Nesmith, South Carolina (about an hour from Myrtle Beach) you will find us, Donna and Frank Comito
and my sister, Darlene, along with our motley crew of animals. Frank thought he was retired (ha,ha) but now he holds
the prestigious title of "Farm Manager". I am a Medical Massage Therapist and continue to work. We are animal
lovers of the greatest magnitude. We relocated here from Las Vegas, Nevada about 2 years ago, and don't miss the
sand or the 120 degree weather one bit.
We did animal rescue for 5 years in Nevada and brought with us about 10 of our personal dogs; 30
unadoptable dogs; 2 senior rescue horses and six macaws. Since being here we have rescued one mare with cancer and one
old, unwanted gelding. I went to my first horse sale last year and came home with two Missouri Foxtrotters and two Tennessee
Walkers. We have also acquired several "highly" adoptable young dogs which were dumped on our property once
folks found out about our "rescue" group. Please check out our "Rescue Me" page, maybe you would love
to rescue one of our beautiful critters.
We have two types of HORSEPOWER around here; one that will walk, trot, gallop and and the other does zero
to 60 in 3 seconds. Oh yeah, we all ride Harley's, that's when we are not working, cleaning, shoveling, feeding,
making repairs, or "trying" to get some sleep.
Now to the Gypsie's...One day I was surfing around on the Internet looking for black and white
spotted horses. I really wasn't looking for anything in particular, just looking. Then somehow I landed on
a Gypsy Cob website, the first picture that opened up was, Lenny's Horse, and THAT WAS IT! I was in love and
knew I was going to have one by the end of the year, just had to figure out a way to convince my husband.
A couple of weeks later, I was on a plane and on my way to England for
the Appleby Fair. Deirdre and Brian Cash from Clononeen Farm let me tag along with them, they were very gracious hosts and
showed me a fabulous time. They gave me an education in twelve days that would have taken me years to learn on my own.
THANK YOU DEIRDRE, BRIAN & JOLENE. I went over there with the intention of only buying MAYBE one or two horses at the
most, but I came home the proud mum of four mares, yes, FOUR MARES in foal, and a beautiful filly foal, that was sired by
none other than the famous LENNY'S HORSE, now owed by Desert Jewel Gypsies and SquirrelWood Gypsies, N.Y.
